How Can I Sign Up For Digital Distribution?

You can send an email through our contact page with your interest, or go to gestaltdigital.com and mention that you are an ambient or electronic artist for a $5 discount on set-up per album.

 What Do I Need For Digital Distribution?

You need three things when signing up for digital distribution; Music (on 3 CDs or CD-Rs), Cover artwork and a UPC code. 

Cover Artwork – If you are submitting CD-Rs, please include a CD with a hi-res version of your CD artwork.  If you do not have artwork, we can help with some design at a rate of $30/hour (typically 1-2 hours charged).

UPC Code – You must have a unique UPC barcode.  If you do not have a UPC barcode, we can provide one for $20.

One good option is using the Kunaki service that can product hi-quality one-offs for your CD and they will assign a bar-code as part of the service.

Why Is There A Charge for Set Up?

There is a charge because it costs us money and labor to set up your music with the retailers.  It is an unfortunate fact of life but trust us, nobody is getting rich of that set up fee.  Also, if you shop around you will find that our set up fee is much lower than similar services.

What Other Fees Are There?

We keep 5% of what is paid out to us and pass the remaining 95% on to the artists.  The other steps in the distribution process also take a portion that can be as much as 35% depending on the service in question.

When Would My Music Be Available?

Once your music is received, it generally takes about 6-8 weeks to show up in iTunes and is similar for most other retailers.  Payments are sent out by the retailers about 8 weeks after the first sale.  Gestalt Digital will then send monthly payments any time your accumulated royalty share is over $20.
